Timothy Vail CEO & Founder, G2X Energy |
Timothy Vail’s entrepreneurial career, spanning nearly two decades, has focused on alternative energy, from fuel cells to clean coal, and has included key roles in many successful alternative energy ventures. Before joining G2X Energy, Mr. Vail was the President and CEO of Accelergy Corporation, an energy technology company focused on the commercialization of Exxon technology to cleanly convert coal into synthetic fuels.
Prior to Accelergy, Mr. Vail served as President and CEO of Synthesis Energy Systems (SES), a global developer of coal gasification facilities that cleanly produce high-quality transportation fuels from low-rank coal resources. He was instrumental in raising more than $200 million for SES, building their first commercial facility and successfully listing the company on the NASDAQ stock exchange. Prior to joining SES in 2005, Mr. Vail served as the Director of Commercialization for Fuel Cell Development at General Motors where his responsibilities included developing GM’s Shanghai fuel cell office and coordinating engineering facilities in the United States, Germany, Japan and China. While at GM, he completed the world’s largest fuel cell commercialization deal with Dow Chemical and developed a fleet of fuel cell vehicles for the U.S. Postal Service. Prior to joining GM, Mr. Vail was the Vice President of Product Development for The New Power Company, a start-up subsidiary of Enron Corporation, where he was responsible for the development of new products and services. Previously he was Vice President at Enron Energy Services, focusing on alternative energy opportunities. Prior to Enron, Mr. Vail was a securities lawyer with Andrews & Kurth, LLP. He holds a JD degree from the University of Houston Law Center and a bachelor’s degree in economics from The University of Texas at Austin.
